The first time the recipe for onion rings appeared was in a British cookbook called The Art of Cookery. This book is written by John Mollard and was published in 1802. When ready to be served, these rings are crispy, slightly sweet and a bit savoury – making them perfect to be eaten as a side to a burger. These rings can also be eaten alone – giving you that crispy and crunchy delicious taste in each bite. Onion rings gained popularity in the United Kingdom and the United States. Today, this dish is typically served as a side dish in many spots around the globe.
